Bloating Gavel

Gavel will be getting new ideas, and a lot of new ideas. What will happen to Dern when they start with it? Will they have any ideas for it? Will Gavel be bloated and Dern be dried before it gets released?

What's happening is that Grian and the Content team may be putting too much effort into Gavel, how? Well they are inputting many ideas, and all those ideas should be(in their minds) in Gavel. But what will happen when you have all your ideas into Gavel, and not a whole lot in Dern? Doing this will only delay the launch of Gavel, and delay the start and delay the release of Dern. How? Because Gavel's packed with so many ideas, maybe too much ideas. And after they think Gavel has the right amount of ideas and content, it may actually be bloated. Bloating Gavel may even prevent Dern from becoming a thing because there's nothing new in Dern, all of the new stuff's in Gavel.

What can they do? Well, they can finish their ideas and stop adding more ideas to the already packed list. Add them later, not all at once. So this can increase your monetary support, most of our community have already left due to the delays to Gavel. Get it the uncompleted projects done, shift over the projects which you have not started into Dern. Because if you wont, Dern will just be empty and nothing will be new, just a plain new world with no new mechanics. I know you're trying your hardest, but please try a little less, you're stressing yourselves and using all the ideas in one province.

Think about it, what will Dern have when Gavel's released? Poor ideas? No ideas? No new content? Repetitive quests? All out grinding? Wont it be boring? Releasing Gavel with a ton of features may be nice, but think about Dern, will it even become a province? Will the bloated Gavel be considered as both Gavel and Dern(without extra land)? Will giving us all this content in one update really be a good idea? Or would shifting un-started ideas be better?

Tl;DR I think that they're bloating Gavel and that will leave Dern empty of new ideas, Dern will be the shortest, emptiest idea ever.

What even is dern

 

From what I grasp of upgrading and adding new ideas is that... Those new ideas open the paths and doors to other maybe even greater ideas that may make Dern even better than Gavel. And by the time they even start working on Dern, they will have known what works and what doesn't work. The staff will probably also think of better ideas. Like how getting the idea to make a stone furnace lead to smelting metals to making weapons and tools. Same thing may happen with Dern. With Wynncraft being the stone furnace, Gavel being the smelting of metals, and Dern being the weapons and tools. Also I don't see even the possibility of Dern being worked on for atleast a year/year and half. And for it to be released I don't see that for about 2-3years from now.

So, its the third province. Even more corrupted than The province of Wynn. I heard rumors about endermans, alot of them :V And no its not Dernel jungle.

 

So you just want a bunch of mundane, boring updates every month or 2? I don't. Gavel is not "a half-cooked pie that doesn't taste good." It is supposed to be something worth waiting for. It's quality over quantity. Think about it. If they didn't work on giving Gavel a lot of well thought out content, we would keep getting these bi-monthly updates that aren't very well thought out like the Wynnter update. I mean, it was good and all and kept us entertained with Lost Soles and Tower of Ascension, it didn't add much and it has LOTS of problems, guilds are an example of one of these problems. In Gavel, they are adding a whole bunch of cool things and they are making sure we will enjoy it. I respect your opinion, but in my perspective, I'd prefer to wait a year or 2 for something amazing than get a bunch of mundane little things bi-monthly.

 

Gavel's already packed with content and ideas, it wouldn't be mundane. I'm saying that they should finish everything they have already started, and dont start new projects(That's what creates the half-cooked pie). Gavels been in production for at least 1 and a half years, that's quite some time for quality, but you said "Quality over quantity" That's the opposite of what they're doing, they're adding more and more content everyday. I never said anything about bi-monthly and bi-weekly updates. Guilds are broken, and are low priority. Like I said, Gavel has been in the works for at least a year and a half.

He means if Gavel keeps going the way it is now, the "pie" will burn, which ruins it. Rather, have a "well-cooked pie" now, and have another one in the shape of Dern.

 

Oh well, some day they'll come up with more unique ideas because creativity, in a way, has no borders

 

While they are still adding content, what would happen when they reach year 3 of developement, will they be able to catch up with time with their content? The more time you put into something, the more someone expects from it.

 

Well, by the way the admins are talking, it sounds like they are working their Royal ass's off because of Gavel. So I HIGHLY doubt they will be adding anymore content.

 

LOL they are gonna have plenty of new ideas for Dern. This is minecraft, endless possibilities.

 

There's an end, there's only an end because Wynn's an MMoRPG, we(Not me nor you, the content team) limited ourselves to this theme. We cant just add a Railgun and say that's perfectly normal(Unless this was based during the future), we have 4 classes, and must have quests that aren't limited towards one specific quest. Plenty wouldn't be a lot, a lot of ideas would be the amount Gavel has at the moment, I wouldn't want them to bloat Gavel with ideas; leaving Dern dry and barren.

Just a little note, i'm using water as the analogy for ideas and content.

 

Gavel is a different land, with magic and light. Dern, according to the lore, is very different. The Dern Emigrants on Dead Island is testimony to that. Both Gavel and Dern will be bloated- Gavel with cool ideas about magic and stuff, while Dern more hell-based things. Plus, they've stopped adding things long ago- Now they're developing those ideas. Trust me, when Dern comes, 1.9 and other MC updates will make up for it and have lots of new content from the Minecraft update content.

Its not just Gavel, it is also Wynn. The rest I know about this are spoilers.
And now I think about it, you may be right about them working too hard on Gavel. I don't want to say it, but if there isn't anything left to add except more quests and builds after Gavel... well, I don't even want to think about that.
On the other hand, why is everyone thinking about Dern? We haven't even got Gavel yet and there isn't even one block of Dern that exists so far. Just think about Gavel. Once you play Gavel for a few months and complete everything, then restart. It is likely none of your classes were level 1 when the Gavel update came out and it is nice to play through everything in the correct order. And then another smaller update will come out, hopefully fixing the lag and making Wynn playable. But seriously, what is it with Dern and everyone now? Have I missed a video of Grian adding the first block to Dern or something?

 

Definitely not. We still have plenty of ideas to work with, and as both our code and Minecraft improves, we will have even more to work with.
