Build Secluded Mage Tower

So, using World Edit (only) I built a mage tower and a bunch of terrain and 2 trees around it. It was pretty fun to make and probably took me ~3 hours. Here are the pictures:

Seriously though if I tried to build anything like this it would just look like a destroyed cake .-.

 

Look's ok but there is to much leaves on and the hills araund it culd youse some work to. The inside is boring do more stuff and more flor's. But it looks good.

 

thanks for your constructive criticism :) But 1 thing, I was looking for that overgrown feel so I purposely overdid it with leaves.

 

The tower looks good, just that the environment does not stand out anything with the tower. You tried to see the trees but the river and the road seems rather simple.
With the mountains you can give him some relief.

 

In my opinion the tower is to straight, and as said before, the hills.

 

I almost feel as if you //stack ed the segments but otherwise I like the interior

 

The interior looks good but the outside is way too repetitive to be interesting, it needs to have some variety. I see how you tried to do that with the balcony, but the colour schemes are so different it looks like it's from a different build.

 

alright, I'll take these things under consideration for another build. :)

 

I know that you used only WE here, but that path looks waaay to procedurally generated.

Plus, the tower could use some vines.

EDIT: How did I not see the vines .-.

 

The Path: 0/10 - It's a squiggly line of bad blocks.
The Terrain: 2/10 - Ball Spam??? > Smooth???
The River: 0/10 - It's like one deep.
The Bridge: 2/10 - It looks like a board over water.
The Tower: 4/10 - Please don't make modular levels.
The Trees: 3/10 - Roots?
The Mines: 8/10 - Great opening.
There's a lot more for me to point out, but these are basic things you need to work on.

 

I think it's an amazing start, However I think the design on the tower is a tad bit repetitive. I'd try making it either a little bigger, or not pasting the same pattern on top of it. Try varying the shape also. Towers are very tricky to build because if they look to straight they get boring, but if they're too curvy they look odd. I think you can do it though! try changing the shape to have a little curve inward, or maybe outward at the top if you feel like getting creative! I'd love to see you update the thread if you do choose to do what I said, or even do your own ways of improving it. remember, no one gets good at building fast, it takes time and a painful amount of dedication. <3 good luck!

 

I was going to scrap this, but your post actually inspired me to improve it. I surely will update it, and maybe notify you when I do. :)

Going back now, I'm so lost, I have no idea how to start and what to do to improve it.

 

Ok so: trees don't look natural, tower is copy-pasted way too many times, terrain looks made in under 5 minutes, the space is way too empty and could use anything to fill it really..

 

everyone thinks its copy/pasted, the only thing I did copy and paste was to make it symmetrical. legit. but I admit i gotta work on my design.

 

Copy pasting is fine, but try to make it look like it isn't, when you do a highly complicated build and copy a small part of it, it's unnoticed and saves you time, but when 90% of your build is copied, it looks cheap..

 

I agree about it being a little to straight. Looks good, but try to add some more detail and not make it one shape all the way up. Otherwise I like it :)

 

Here's a tip for mountain building: use /br sphere 19 5 and make a general shape to the mountain. Select the area and //replace 19 sand or just //replacenear 19 sand and wait for it to all to settle. Once settled replace the sand to any block type you want. Lastly select the entire mountain and //smooth as many times you think is necessary. Using a brush for smoothing just generates terrible terrain that is barely useful.

 

The tower isn't very good. Not a lot of depth, and it looks a little rushed, but i love the scenery around it
