Gavel Gear Identification Discussion

    Alright, I want to talk about the ID update coming with gavel, Salted has said that Xp bonus will be "a bit" rarer, which I think means A LOT rarer and so will all the other stats.

    " instead of having only a dozen IDs we can play with, we have 38. So XP Bonus is a bit more rare now." -salted


    To me this is good news, getting best gear should be a lot harder now. Which is good because.. wait for it.. wait fo.. it's because people are waiting for gavel!


    Now why are people waiting for gavel? It's because maxing out one class is amazingly easy, despite everyone saying how hard the grind is. The truth is, leveling is much easier compared to most real mmorpgs, in fact getting the best gear is even easier! Usually you have to play dungeons for quite a while to get the best set of gear, but in wynncraft, you are pretty much set as soon you hit max level, maybe missing a piece or two, which you can buy really cheap from other players!


    So what wynncraft is missing, is looting! Item identifications that are never ending possibility of fun! I hope this is what gavel brings, if there will be 38 possible IDs, and some stats will have random numbers, it will be really hard to get best gear. But this is good for a few reasons in my opinion:

    *The thrill of the hunt - you're grinding mobs, finishing dungeons, for what? For that epic piece of gear that can drop ANY TIME. You never know what it is, will it be the perfect item, something average or a vendor trash.

    *Never ending grind - the average gear, or something that you beat the best boss with, will probably be as easy to obtain as it is currently, but in case you like getting better gear, you can keep playing as much as you want, because you can always find something better

    *Economy will matter much more - as you can always find better gear, emeralds will be much more desirable, people will spend much more emeralds to ID gear.

    *No more waiting for expansion - why would you wait for expansion when you didn't even get a godlike piece of gear? We'd be more likely telling them to postpone it a bit :p


    The downsides:

    *Might be too complicated to compare and see which gear piece is better

    *Trading will get a bit more complicated (selling Identified gear)

    *Something I don't realize? Say in comments!



    So yeah, I wanted to hear some opinions about these bonus ID that are coming in gavel. Do you guys like more random complicated looting system or you prefer the much easier and less complicated current system?


    Each has their upsides and downsides, but what's true is we need some kind of progression to keep people playing instead of "waiting for gavel", in case you don't like more random ID system, do you have any ideas for alternate progression on single character (class) ?

    I think it's great, now we actually can have different weapons instead of all having the same identifications :D

    Yup, I like it too, but I've heard some differing opinions in game (i asked one friend), which wasn't enough for statistics, so I made a thread :P

    I personally think that having 38 different identifications will lead to more unpredictable discoveries and I have a feeling that 3 of the 38 will be special and very rare identifications that help progress faster, and those same identifications will boost the price of the item significantly.

    I also don't believe that we have an actual economy, the banks dont give you insurance, they cant give you interest rates if you put money into specific groups, and the bank doesn't make it's own money, the 'economy' will be ruined if someone spreads duplicated LEs because they're inflating the price of any item since the duped LE will get shared and spread throughout Wynn, the only way the 'economy' will deflate is when someone with a significant amount of emeralds goes inactive, that LE is no longer accessible, another way is that someone carrying a large amount of emeralds dies with 0-2 soulpoints in the middle of nowhere(Or lava). Inflation increases prices of items; Deflation decreases prices of items.

    Tl;Dr Our 'economy' is not even a complete economy

    I wonder if gear identification in the Gavel Expansion even uses emeralds :[]

    Hm, that seems be a security issue that should be solved, which is a tiny bit off topic I think. This thread is mostly for collecting opinions on gear Identification system and player progression, not security flaws.

    Also by economy I mean trading, do we have real life like banks? No, but economy in real life kinda existed before them so yeah..

    Banks had to make money, in wynn, we have to make money, then we buy and sell using items and those emeralds. Everytime we interact like that, we're trading, not an economy, but close to one.
