    I have no idea if this is the 13th teaser or not, but let's just roll with it...

    Today I'm gonna do something a bit different. I will be talking about a thing related to the new item system. In part, this is also to allow you guys to start thinking in how you will want to design your builds when Gavel gets released.

    Elements, how do they work?

    It's not a secret anymore, with Gavel we are adding elements. They are a very big part of the new item system. The way I've designed them is by seeing them as ''subclasses''. They aren't just following an element ''triangle'' where one specific element is stronger against another one, which is stronger against another one, etc.

    For example, the ''fire'' element isn't just fire, it's also the tank subclass element.

    They all have a certain playstyle that you, the player, build over time as you level up. Here's how they each work...


    Earth: Brute subclass. Most weapons with this element are slow, but hit hard. It is linked to the strength skill, which means that going with this build will not only boost your earth damage, but also all of your other damage as well. This subclass also makes your spells and powders a bit less effective.

    Fire: Tank subclass. Most items with this element will give more health than usual. It is linked to the defense skill, which means that on top of having items with great health bonus, you will also reduce damages done to you.

    Water: Wizard/white magic subclass. Most items with this element will be giving a lot of mana/spells related boosts. It is linked to the intelligence skill. This means that on top of having great spells boosts, your spells will cost even less mana. Why is it also considered as white magic? Because having water damage bonus will also boost your healing spell, if you have one.

    Air: Scout subclass. Most items with this element will be giving speed related items. It is linked to the agility skill. It means that on top of having great mobility, you will pass right through enemies without them being able to touch you.

    Thunder: Assassin/dark magic subclass. Most items with this element will hit really, really fast, dealing a lot of damage. This is a build based a lot on luck, because it is linked to the dexterity skill. This means that on top of hitting five thousand times a second, you will deal double your damage on your enemies.

    And the coolest thing about this system? You can mix them. Nothing is preventing you from using a multi element build. Hell! Why not use all five at the same time? This is where powders can really shine.

    Most items will allow you to add powders to them. Powders themselves have changed a lot, there is now one for each element (aka 5) and instead of only two tiers, there are now six. They also come with a game-changing feature, which is the new sp- oh! Look at the time, I have to wrap this up quickly!

    I will leave you guys with my favourite new weapon coming with the expansion. Can you guess why I like it so much?

    [​IMG]Why does this weapon have such a low damage output for a high level weapon? You probably like it because it wouldn't expend any mana for spells.

    Q: Would having all 5 elements increase resistance and damage types? or would it increase the chances you can be weakened, I honestly think having a max of 4 would make us think before jumping into a crowd of enemies.

    Q: Are skillpoints essentially useless now? Or do they serve as a weapon requirement and still give you buffs like they always did?

    Q: Is defence nothing now? Will it all be health?

    Q: 6 tiers of powder, 3 types of powder a long with it I guess, what boosts do each tier give after 2? extra damage? mana reduction? temp health regen boost after hitting an enemy? agility?
    A: 5 powders for each element, and still 6 tiers of them
    Q: Requirements for using a weapon/armour piece seem to disappear once you reach the said requirement, is that true?

    The damage system as a whole has changed. I think it does a certain amount of hearts now instead of damage. Ethereal has similar damage to it so it isn't that weak probably.

    Ethereal deals a base of 65 damage which is a lot more than the Empire builders straight up 10 damage

    Empires does 10-35 without elements.
    Ethereal does 15-30. I doubt you can't
    add elements to some weapons. Either way,
    you can't tell if it's weak or not until you learn
    more about the new damage system.

    They wouldn't make a skill point purely for one class, no, I think we might be getting a way to heal on sone classes
