Hey guys, its Toxicdrule: I'm here to make a debate on something I think should be implemented into the minecraft community. Now, before we start, let me state the words that will determine this subject:
Don't be h8ng on other peeps opinions.
Its just a debate, nothing else. Right, lets get into it. The topic is:
Should there be a Destiny server, implemented into minecraft?
I've played my fair share of halo pvp minigames. Most of them, well, pretty much sucked. And the worst part was there was nothing that interesting about it; it was just another way to boast about your fps skills in another game entirely. So I decided to not look for more of those kinds of servers.
Until Destiny came out, that is. I was impressed with its gameplay overall, and I thought, "Surely someone could create this in minecraft, right?"
Turns out, no attempt has been made (except for a pvp map of a certain area in Destiny) which surprised me. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized why this hasn't been implemented into minecraft yet. Just imagine, having to create:
    - A full solar system, with detailed playable planets for missions
    - Game mechanics, ranging from mob activity to shooting weapons and abilities
    - a full texture pack, with over a hundred different pieces of 3D weapons & armour
    - Travelling through space (this could probably be the most easiest)
    - missions, intelligent npc's & raids
    - Travelling on planets via Sparrows (again, quite easy - Hypixels done something close to it)
    - Cinematic cutscenes
    - interactive environments
    - Different coding for Warlock, Titan & Hunter classes, plus numerous subclasses (Hypixel have done this via Warlords, so this wouldn't be a problem)

I'm sure there would be more to cover, but those would be the core aspects of building a server like that. Plus, 1.9 update is coming out soon & that introduces a bunch of new combat features, including the shield & duel-wielding. This could be implemented into a Destiny server as, maybe holding a ghost on one hand & your primary weapon on the other - or, another way to broaden sub-classes, by using both hands to shoot lightning from your fingertips.
So, my opinion is - while it would take probably years to create something playable, it would definitely be worth it. Look at how Wynncraft turned out! that took time, but it brought us all together, did it not?

EDIT: Apparently, so many people want this to happen, its now a thing! Alright... LETS DO THIS!
We are now recruiting content members for early development! Let me just remind you: This is a big project. Every mission on every planet is a large expanse of land that needs to detailed, textured and easy to navigate - like the missions in destiny itself. Not to mention while we need builders, we will need some heavily experienced coders who can see Destiny Mechanics happening in Minecraft - and some more experienced texture pack makers who know how to insert recorded sound files when it needs to be in it (There's gonna be a lot of voice-overs; but not as much as the Destiny game itself, that would take forever). The good news is, you don't have to make an entire planet!)

The percents are how much it affects your application)

I think with the combined efforts of big server makers (with your idea of Cutscenes, which Gavel has now) this could happen. A slightly less-realistic version of space travel could be with the levitation effect in 1.9. At level 255, it stops you from floating anywhere, and the levels just below make you sink. I've seen this used with some command block machines for a "Survival Creative" effect. When you look up, you float up, straight, no floating and down, well...down. This is just an idea for your space travel, but overall I think this could be done.

For space travel, it honestly isn't much of a big deal. In Destiny, space travel is done without the need of actual flying the ship itself - cutscenes do it for you. Probably the only way to do this in minecraft would be to fix a players camera view on one point (again, this is another accomplished feature Hypixel has done.) the screen would show a built ship (you can customize its look by buying different ships in the Guardians tower) hovering in space, with a planet nearby. The player is invisible, but plugins would be shown on the side, showing the players level, class, etc. Then there would also be a launch button that takes you to a destination - once you've chosen it, that is.
On the hotbar would be two items (whatever it would be doesn't matter, it would end up becoming a symbol via the texture pack) that as you right click, one will open up to reveal a map, printing out the full playable areas of the solar system. The other item will actually confirm where you want to go. Once its been confirmed, the area will show up on the side plugin, and when you launch it, you'll be teleported.
You would be able to access your inventory simply by pressing E.

If you want it to be without mods, Would it be possible to do the cutscenes with the texture pack? I know moving textures exist, so do you think it maybe possible for say, a special pumpkin to be put on the player, the "cutscene" plays, and it's then removed?

That would most likely be the best thing to do, yes. Gavel will include cutscenes for quests though, so I'm interested to see how those work.

I've done a layout for the tutorial or rather, the first mission that explains how to play. As this has a texture pack & command blocks combined (not to mention 1.9 utilities) a lot of creativity could be added. Read it, and tell me what you guys think.
Joining the server for the first time, you won't end up in a normal lobby, the guardians tower. Instead, it'll be a small limbo room with a few server rules like 'don't hack' and 'Don't ask for admin' that'll be written on signs. There'll also be a rule book in your hotbar, and a server selector. Choose the server selector, and you'll end up with a class selector, showing the classes to choose - Titan, Warlock & Hunter (there may be exclusive VIP classes too!) They'll be able to be switched when you type /class.
Select a class, and the intro will display. This will be the first cutscene you'll encounter, explaining the story of Destiny, and how you'll start. The cool part of it is, the texture pack adds audio, so at the same time there's text in the chat bar, recorded audio will play along with the cutscene.
When it ends, you'll be teleported into the start of the mission - the outskirts of Old Russia's Cosmodrome. Text will tell you to equip your ghost (the 3D texture pack shows it as an actual ghost hovering on the side) and as soon as you do that, the ghost will play audio and text. Whoever has their voice recorded for it will say something close to what it actually says in Destiny, stating how it found you, there are Fallen on your tail, and that you need to get inside the cosmodrome, or else you'll die. This is where helpful hints come up, telling you about your double jump (made with the power of 1.9, thanks to Tantibus) and a passive skill. You'll start with a tier 1 class kit that will stay on you at all times unless you equip another kit, but you have no weapon. At the same time, other people can join you at the start, but their rewards and kills don't over relay with yours. Run through the path (there's invisible blocks blocking you from exploring) and get inside. The Ghost will talk again, talking more about the cosmodrome & earth and why the fallen are hunting you. This is where Ghost interaction is introduced - there's a part in where you need light, as the fallen thrive in it. Text will state you need to use one of the ghosts interaction combo clicks - in this case, Left-right-left. If its possible, the ghost will do a small animation in which it vanishes in a mass of molecules. Command blocks activate, lights turn on, and fallen spawn in, shooting bolts. Audio plays, with the ghost telling you he's found you a weapon in a chest. Its nearby, so open it: the format is only 5 or 6 spaces in the chest, and they come with a random amount of ammo, and a lvl 1 rifle. As soon as you equip it, it will remain as your primary weapon until you choose to sell it or swap it with something else in your inventory.
Now, in Wynncraft terms, missions could be also close to dungeons - except they're longer, filled with mobs, and are also explorable. The rest of your mission will be fighting past the Fallen, as text in the chat bar teaches you about tips and tricks, and telling you everything else you need to put in a tutorial - all the while, audio of ships flying overhead & rumbling will play, and intense energy bolts fly past you (A possible option to do for mobs would be to use a shulkers tracking blast as homing bullets from Fallen mobs - it'll end up being re-textured, and it'll be configured so it won't give you the gravitational effect - just damage.
At the end of it, you'll face the boss of the level; a mob that's close to a Fallen Captain, guarding an old guardian ship. Destroy him & his minions, and text will tell you to pull out the ghost. Audio from it will play, saying it can fix this piece of junk, so you use a repair combo click: right-right-right. A few seconds pass (audio of the ship powering up could play optionally) and the ghost tells you to enter the ship by going up the doorway. Do that, and you'll be transported to the guardians tower - the main lobby of all servers.
I'll add more information about different parts of the game and how they could work; meanwhile it would be awesome for feedback! :D
Oh, and one more thing: Anything belonging to the Destiny game itself is copyright, so all of the names could change. Not dramatically, something that's close to the original names.

Oh, now that would be a custom boss. If its possible, I would make him a texture model (so its animations and movement are only visible with a texture pack) but that would take a lot of time to create and fully model without glitches. Noticed how there'll be new custom mobs in Gavel made from separate entities? I'm wanting to do something close to that.

Hello! I'm just going to tell you another idea about this possible but far-off server, 'GuardianCraft'! (Yep, that'll be its name from now on.)
    Today, I'll be talking about:
    Sparrows: How would they work?
As any Destiny fan knows, Sparrows are small, hover-speeder-type vehicles that are activated by using a ghost. They're extremely handy in missions and all-round exploration on planets. Now, if there's one thing I would want in this server, it would be the ability to use sparrows so you can get to places a lot quicker. But how would that be possible, in the world of minecraft?
Now I'm not an expert at coding or making new textures (hell, I barely know coding itself) but I do know that making small, hovering vehicles in minecraft that you can get on and off have been made already - either in Zombie survival games as rusty old jeeps, or state-of-the-art hover racing cars. This makes it easier to code, so progress develops faster and making a model can be done earlier.
Now, let me tell you how it'll work:
As you start a mission, there'll be places where your sparrow will become usable - e.g long distances between points of interest. When you're in the area, one of the ghosts combo clicks will be unlocked - Right-left-left. This combo click summons whatever vehicle you have on your inventory, and materializes it in front of you. To climb on, simply right click it like any other mount, and you'll be sitting on top of it. (You either have an option to ride in 1st person mode or 3rd.)
Like in Turbo Kart Racers, the controls will be the same - w to move forward, a and d to move left and right, and s to brake & reverse. Hopefully, with the same coding as Turbo Kart Racers, you should be able to smoothly ride across terrain! (unless you're a terrible driver).
